Lead Supply Technician The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a full-time Lead Supply Technician to support Medical Supply Distribution within Supply Chain Management at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System in Muskogee, OK. This position ensures that medical, surgical, and other supplies and materials are received, stored, scanned, bar-coded, distributed, and replenished for wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital areas. Monitor work status and progress and make day-to-day adjustments to ensure timely completion of assigned workload. Report expected completion times and escalate backlogs or problems that cannot be resolved promptly. Instruct employees in specific tasks, job techniques, procedures, policies, directives, and other guidelines. Provide on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Maintain current knowledge of supply procedures and answer employee questions as needed. Check work in progress and spot-check completed work for accuracy and compliance with instructions, methods, deadlines, and procedures. Report employee performance, progress, training needs, behavior issues, and personnel needs to the supervisor. Provide information to the supervisor regarding promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and related staffing matters. Support receiving, storing, scanning, bar-coding, replenishment, and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, equipment, and other materials. Maintain stock levels, rotate supplies, monitor expiration dates, and clean assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must complete all required application steps, including the online questionnaire and online assessment. Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. Must be subject to a background/security investigation. Must complete the online onboarding process and provide acceptable identification for employment eligibility verification. Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program as required for Department of Veterans Affairs health care personnel. Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license. May be required to serve a one-year probationary period or two-year trial period. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Specialized experience may include distributing sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, equipment, and materials throughout a medical facility. Experience may include scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, stocking, replenishing, rotating stock, monitoring expiration dates, maintaining stock records, and cleaning supply areas using aseptic principles. Experience assisting with training new employees and answering questions about supply procedures, policies, and guidelines is also qualifying. There is no educational substitution at this grade level. Current or former Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements, including 52 weeks at the GS-5 level for this GS-6 position. Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking during the entire workday. Requires frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies weighing more than 100 pounds. With proper assistance, may move heavier items weighing more than 40 pounds.
