Outside Plant Construction Technician

Cross Telephone Company in Warner, Oklahoma is in search of an Outside Plant Construction Technician to repair and maintain outside plant telecommunications facilities by performing the following duties:

Job Summary and Objectives: Construction Technician I is an entry-level position for individuals beginning a career in telecommunications construction. This role is focused on learning core skills and assisting with construction tasks, including drop plow operations, utility spotting, and supporting aerial or underground installation work. The Tech I works under close supervision and is responsible for maintaining accurate field documentation.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist in drop plow operations for customer service drops.
2. Learn to climb poles safely and effectively.
3. Operate or assist with smaller construction machinery.
4. Spot existing utility lines and ensure safe digging practices.
5. Maintain and submit daily jobsite paperwork and documentation.
6. Load, organize, and maintain tools and materials.
7. Participate in safety meetings and follow all safety guidelines.
8. Some travel may be required.

Supervisor Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Competencies:

• Willingness to learn telecom construction methods.
• Basic understanding of construction safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and physically capable of labor-intensive work.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, digging, climbing, and walking.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and complete basic paperwork and reports.

Certification/License Requirements: Valid driver's license required and DOT medical card preferred.

Work Environment: Outdoor jobsite conditions, exposed to temperature extremes and construction equipment.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

This position is Safety Sensitive under the Oklahoma medical marijuana law.

Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management based on the needs of the business.
